HealthSouth Drake Awarded Two Certifications from the Joint Commission

8/18/2015

Cincinnati, Ohio – HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Drake has earned certification for Disease-Specific Care in two key programs: stroke and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ was awarded to the hospital for its compliance with the organization’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in disease-specific care.

“In achieving Joint Commission certification, HealthSouth Drake has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients with traumatic brain injury,” says Jean Range, M.S., R.N., C.P.H.Q., executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend them for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”

To earn these certifications, the two rehabilitation programs underwent an extensive, unannounced, on-site evaluation by a team of Joint Commission reviewers. The programs were evaluated against Joint Commission standards through an assessment of the programs’ processes, the programs’ ability to evaluate and improve care within its own organization, and interviews with patients and staff.

“Our focus is to serve the needs of the Cincinnati community,” said Brad Kennedy, CEO of HealthSouth Drake. “Each day, our staff works to provide a differentiated level of care and offer services that get patients back on their feet and functioning in their communities. We are thrilled to receive this certification from The Joint Commission.”
